4th of July on Martha's Vineyard
Martha’s Vineyard comes alive with many patriotic traditions every year on the 4th of July. If you’re spending the holiday on the island read on for our guide to the perfect day.
Grab a bite to eat:
If you’re looking for something to eat, stop by the Martha’s Vineyard Preservation Trust’s Annual BBQ for burgers and hotdogs at the Dr. Daniel Fisher house from 4 to 8 pm. If you’re in the mood for seafood, try St. Elizabeth’s church for lobster rolls served from 12 to 5 pm.
Experience art and culture:
Celebrate the spirit of Martha’s Vineyard at the First Friday Celebration. Taking place on the first Friday of every month from June until October in the Vineyard Haven Harbor Cultural District, the first Friday is an exhibition of the best art the island has to offer. In town, explore and support local business and galleries. In Beach St extension, enjoy the daytime art market, and in the afternoon head to Owen Park for live music, art activities, and food trucks.
Celebrate an iconic film:
The Pawnee House is offering a unique experience celebrating the 50th anniversary of Martha’s Vineyards most iconic film, Jaws. Reservations are required. You will enjoy the screening of the film alongside a three-course meal inspired by the movie.
Enjoy patriotic festivities:
At 5pm the iconic parade will take place featuring floats, marching bands, and classic cars. End the day by enjoying an incredible fireworks display over the harbor.
